Established in April 1991, Neponset Pet Center and Animal Hospital, is part of the Callanan family's group of veterinary hospitals. Beginning in 1926 with Brighton Animal Hospital, the third generation of Callanan's are now involved in the family's animal hospitals throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Veterinarians and veterinary associations must decide for themselves whether to cooperate with animal control and animal welfare organizations to provide special plans and/or services, such as health examinations, surgery, immunizations, and/or advice on matters such as sanitation and disease and parasite control. The scope of professional services and detailed contractual arrangements to provide these services must be worked out in advance to the mutual satisfaction of the animal control or animal welfare organization and the veterinarian or veterinary association concerned. Such plans and professional services, when agreed upon, must give the veterinarian responsibility for making medical recommendations in accord with patient needs. In addition, contractual agreements should be consistently adhered to and reviewed on a regular basis.

Neponset Animal Hospital News We recommend that all pets be given a bath on the day of dismissal. The bath removes all kennel odor and any soiling caused by the pet soiling the kennel area. Pets usually will be admitted and discharged only during regular office hours. All pets will also be examined for the presence of fleas and ticks upon admission to the hospital. Pets carrying either of these parasites will be treated accordingly (administration of a commercial flea/tick product, bathed or dipped).

Exceptions
Exceptions to principles 7-10 may be granted under special circumstances by a panel appointed by the school principal or his or her designee. This panel should consist of at least three individuals, including a science teacher, a teacher of a nonscience subject, and a scientist or veterinarian who has expertise in the subject matter involved.1 At least one panel member should not be affiliated with the school or science fair, and none should be a member of the student's family.
